Some wounds are difficult to forget. Someone may have hurt us deeply, misunderstood us, betrayed us, or caused pain that still lives in our hearts. And even when we know that Jesus calls us to forgive, we may still ask: Lord, how do I let this go? In this heartfelt Catholic reflection, Leela invites us to look at forgiveness through the eyes of Jesus. Forgiveness does not mean pretending that the pain never happened. It does not always mean returning to someone who continues to harm us. Rather, forgiveness is a journey of releasing the pain, bitterness, anger, and desire for revenge into the hands of God. As we look upon Jesus on the Cross, we hear His powerful words: “Father, forgive them.” We are also reminded of His teaching to love our enemies, bless those who curse us, and pray for those who hurt us. This is not easy—and we cannot always do it by our own strength. But God's grace can begin where our strength ends. 🙏 If there is someone you are struggling to forgive, bring that person before the Lord today. Ask Jesus to heal what is wounded in your heart and give you the grace to release what you have been carrying. Forgiveness is not weakness. Forgiveness is freedom.
